22kWp / 20kVA SOLAR PV ROOF-MOUNTED SYSTEM

36 Wellington Rd, Morley WA 6062

Commissioned March 2024

Perdaman Advanced Energy (PAE) was awarded the contract to design and install a 22 kWp / 20 kVA rooftop solar PV system at Morley Primary School as part of the Department of Education’s Schools Clean Energy Technology Fund Program 2023–2024.

Project Objectives:

By harnessing clean, onsite energy, the system helps the school minimise exposure to rising electricity costs and potential grid disruptions while delivering long-term operational savings. This initiative also reinforces the school’s commitment to environmental sustainability and energy efficiency. It also aligns with Western Australia’s Climate Policy, which targets net-zero emissions by 2050 and aims to improve climate resilience across sectors.

The system features 44 high-efficiency 500 W Trina Solar panels integrated with one Fronius Symo 20.0-3-M inverter, delivering a reliable and scalable renewable energy solution in alignment with the City’s broader sustainability goals. The installation was successfully commissioned and energised in March 2024.

Operational Insights:

Peak solar generation typically occurs during the summer period. On a representative day in March, the system recorded a solar energy output of 144.07 kWh, with approximately 85% of the school’s electricity consumption on that day being met by the solar PV system as shown in the Figure 1. This demonstrates the system’s high performance and its effectiveness in significantly reducing reliance on grid-supplied electricity.

In line with Western Power’s regulations for commercial solar installations, export capacity is limited to reduce potential impacts on the local electricity network. Accordingly, the Morley Primary School system has been configured with an export limit of 1.5 kW. This ensures that excess solar generation is curtailed with minimal to no energy exported back to the grid.
