166 kWp / 125 kVA SOLAR PV ROOFTOP SYSTEM

The Woodlake Shopping Centre solar PV project involved the installation of an additional grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) system to expand the site’s existing renewable energy generation capacity. The project included the installation of a new 166 kWp PV array connected to a SMA Sunny Tripower 125 kVA inverter, which was integrated with the existing solar infrastructure comprising two SMA 110 kVA inverters.
The system expansion was designed to increase onsite renewable energy generation, improve energy efficiency, and further reduce reliance on grid electricity. The new PV system was successfully integrated with the existing electrical infrastructure, enhancing the overall solar generation capability of the shopping centre while maintaining reliable operation of the existing systems.

Installation Challenges

The installation was completed within an operational shopping centre, requiring careful planning to minimise disruption to tenants and customers. The project included an upgrade to the existing electrical infrastructure, which was carried out without causing any disruption to centre operations or business activities. All works were carefully scheduled and coordinated around site activities to maintain safe access and
uninterrupted trading. Close collaboration between the project team, client, and site management ensured that both the infrastructure upgrade and the installation and commissioning were completed safely, efficiently, and within the project timeline.

Outcomes & Client Benefits

The completed 166 kWp grid-connected solar PV system at Woodlake Shopping Centre has enhanced the site’s renewable energy generation capability and improved overall energy efficiency. The new solar PV installation was successfully integrated with the site’s existing 220 kVA inverters, making effective use of the existing electrical infrastructure while delivering a cost-effective and efficient renewable energy solution.

Over the reporting period, the newly installed 125 kVA capacity generated approximately 9,798.4 kWh of renewable energy, contributing to reduced grid electricity consumption and increased onsite renewable energy utilisation. The associated electrical infrastructure upgrades and system integration were completed without disrupting shopping centre operations, ensuring uninterrupted trading while delivering a
reliable, future-ready energy solution that supports the client’s long-term sustainability objectives.

Key technical outcomes and client benefits include:

  • Increased renewable energy generation capacity through the installation of a 166 kWp PV array integrated with an SMA STP 125 kVA inverter.
  • Improved utilisation of onsite solar generation to support the shopping centre’s daytime electrical demand.
