Perdaman Breaks Ground on 30MW Renewable Energy Project Development in Karratha

Karratha, Western Australia | 4th March – Perdaman is pleased to announce the official groundbreaking of Project Helios – Phase 1, marking the commencement of its 30MW Solar Farm development in Karratha, Western Australia. The sod-turning ceremony represents a significant milestone in Perdaman’s clean energy strategy and its ongoing commitment to decarbonising Project Ceres on the Burrup Peninsula.

The 30MW Solar Farm will be co-located at Site ‘F’ within the Burrup Strategic Industrial Area, as well as across the rooftops of Project Ceres Buildings and Urea Sheds. Perdaman estimates onsite construction will begin in Q2 2026, with completion expected within 12 months.

The project forms a critical component of Project Ceres’ broader decarbonisation strategy and long-term sustainability objectives. Upon completion, the solar installation will support energy requirements at Site ‘F’, with a portion of generation integrated into the power block infrastructure in line with EPC requirements.

As part of the lender approval process, Perdaman Advanced Energy (PAE) has been selected as the preferred contractor for installation and commissioning of both the Solar Farm at Site ‘F’ and the rooftop solar systems at Project Ceres. As a full-service clean energy subsidiary of Perdaman, PAE is well-positioned to deliver the project efficiently and in alignment with Perdaman’s sustainability commitments.

Upon completion in mid-2027, Project Helios – Phase 1 is expected to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 43,800 tonnes of CO₂ per annum, marking a significant milestone in Perdaman’s decarbonisation journey.

Project Ceres is Perdaman Chemicals & Fertilisers’ flagship urea manufacturing development in Karratha, Western Australia.
