39.6kWp / 30kVA SOLAR PV SYSTEM with 44.16kWh BATTERY STORAGE SYSTEM Roof-Mounted System

Objective

The client (Yo-Chi, Leederville) wanted a solution to reduce the grid consumption during peak hours of trading which was between 7pm and 10pm, as the Mains supply to the shop often tripped due to the undersized Mains cables. The client required a solution that would be more cost effective than upgrading the supply from Western Power.

Project Outline

Perdaman Advanced Energy successfully delivered a complete solution to the client requirement, by installing a 39.6kWp Solar PV System integrated with a 44.16kWh Battery Energy Storage System and 30kVA inverter capacity to reduce their consumption from the grid during peak trading hours. This unique project combines a 15kVA Goodwe Grid connected inverter along with a 15kVA Goodwe Hybrid inverter solar inverter connected to 44kWh of BYD batteries. The Goodwe Hybrid inverter is one of the very few inverters in the market that can charge and discharge at 15kW. By integrating this inverter, PAE has made sure that the battery delivers majority of the load during the peak hours from 7pm. Further, PAE has also ensured that the batteries charge from the grid during off peak hours to ensure that they are at 100% State of Charge before 7pm.

Challenges Faced

The roof had to be re-inforced with CChannels as they were not strong enough to withstand the weight of the panels.

Components Used

  • 90 x Jinko Solar 440W Solar Panels
  • 1 x GoodWe 15kW Inverter
  • 1 x GoodWe 15kW Hybrid Inverter
  • 2 x BYD Battery-Box 22.1 kWh Battery Storage System

Outcome

The project was a significant success, achieving the clients’ expectations. The client consumed over 70% of their demand directly from the batteries from 7pm to 9pm, hence reducing the chances of a blackout. This project is a testament of how various solutions can be engineered to suit the requirements of a client.
